Jay's Top Picks
This
must have been the hardest blog to write about. What are my favourite songs of
the decades? I have so many – and choosing specific ones was hard. But really,
the hardest thing was choosing what to write my last blog post on. And so here
I am, 5/5 posts – listing my favourite songs of the decades!
60’s
Song: Son of a Preacher Man
Artist: Dusty Springfield
About this song: Not written by
Dusty herself, but recorded by her in 1968 for her album. A classic song of the
60’s and a well-known one by most!
70’s
Song: Let’s Stay Together
Artist: Al Green
About this song: A song from 1971,
and one of my favourite songs ever. (even though I actually prefer the Tina
Turner version) This song, believe it or not, was ranked the 16th
greatest song of all time.
80’s
Song: Hold Me Now
Artist: Thompson Twins
About this song: Every time I am in
my car – I have this song on. What a tune! Released in 1983. This is one of my
favourite songs ever.
90’s
Song: Nothing Compares 2U
Artist: Sinead O’Connor
About this song: This song was
written and composed by Prince. Released in 1990 by Sinead O’Connor (great name
by the way), and became a worldwide hit – and so it should have.
00’s
Song: Falling Slowly
Artist: Glen Hansard & Marketa Iglova
About this song: A beautiful song
from Once, released in 2008. A
classic love song, sweet and soft. You could listen to this song all day.
All
I have left to say is… go listen to these songs. And thanks for reading my blog
posts. 5/5, done!
