New School
“Wit
in the name a God do you call that? That’s no singing, that’s squealin! That’s
no a song, that’s a racket!” – Without a doubt, this is what my gran says every
time she hears a newer more recent song. And sometimes, so true.
In
my very first post, if anyone actually cares and has read all of them – you
will remember how I said I tolerate new
music.
Generally
meaning in my mind: I put up with it and some songs are alright, but I’d rather listen to older music any day. And this
certainly does not go down well with some people in my car – who try and skip
each song until they find a more recent one – or one that they actually know,
(which can be rare).
I
can actually admit that I do listen to the odd new song – but not very many. I
can also admit to my guilty pleasure – One Direction. Although – when I was 14
there was a point where they were all I listened to (and my room was covered
head to toe in posters of them).
I
wish that S Club 7 and DJ Otzi still made music – then I would maybe listen to
newer music more often. My love for these artists when I was wee was mad – and
I still see myself listening to them.
Artists
these days tend to take samples from older music and incorporate it into their
own music. Is this used as a marketing technique? So that it doesn’t just
attract the younger generation to listen to the song – but the older generation
too? And it probably works too – I have defo caught my mum dancing to Easy Love
in the kitchen geein it yaldi.
Next
blog will be 5/5, stay tuned xo
