If I Could Turn Back Time...
If I had a pound for every time someone told me I was born in the
wrong decade, I would defo be rich - and not writing this blog! But as a 3rd
year student @ Strathclyde University – it’s a must.
However, welcome to my first post. This blog will mainly focus on
how much I LOVE old school music, how I tolerate new music - and the rest is a
surprise... (but really I haven't planned that far ahead)
Although I should have been a 60s baby, like my mum - I am chuffed
that I was born in the 90s... (when the charts were actually still decent) I
grew up listening to good songs. Introduced to many such as: The Beautiful
South, Fern Kinney, George McRae, Kelly Marie, The Temptations and even The
Drifters! The list could go on and on.
And I for one can tell you right now - I love a party. This is where everyone’s love of
GOOD music comes out. Whether it be Come on Eileen, Dignity, Sweet Caroline –
even the Slosh. No one can deny that they love the party classics. The perks of
working in a bar – I get to work functions. Not only is there free buffet and
cake, but classic songs that everyone can’t help but dance to.
People say to me “how do you know all the words to these songs??
You are too young to know these!”, and if my mum knew the answer: she would
kill me. “My mums old, I grew up listening to her music!” The truest answer I
could give.
If I could turn back time – I’d go back to a time where Top of the
Pops was still on the telly. Back to a time where music was in my eyes, at its
prime.
